Aiming for perfection - WestViolet B&B Amsterdam
Located in the heart of the Jordaan
The Jordaan in general, and the Westerstraat in particular, contain many of Amsterdam’s best and most original shops, (international) bookstores, galleries, cafes, restaurants and open-air markets. The area is bustling with activities, markets, bars with terraces, nightlife, and restaurants.
WestViolet B&B is only a 10-minute walk from the Anne Frank House, and only a 15-minute walk from Dam Square and Central Station. On Mondays, the Westerstraat transforms into the ‘Lapjesmarkt’, one of Amsterdam's oldest open-air markets. On Saturdays, the Noordermarkt (at the top of the street) hosts Amsterdam’s Boerenmarkt (farmers market), an organic and slow food fan's delight.
How to get there: from the airport
By taxi: From Schiphol airport, it is about 18 km to the centre of Amsterdam. A taxi will charge you about € 45 to get to Violettenstraat 4 from the airport.
By train: From Schiphol airport, the train takes less than 20 minutes to reach Amsterdam's Central Station. The train runs every 10 minutes and costs € 4.50 per person. From Central Station you can easily take a tram to our B&B (only 4 stops), or walk (about 15 minutes).
How to get there: from central station
Taking the tram: From the front of the Central Station take tram 11,13 or 17 and get off at the fourth stop "Anne Frank's House/ Westermarkt". Follow the Prinsengracht (turn right behind the church and follow the main canal) and proceed across the second bridge on your left. Go straight ahead into the Anjelierstraat and take the first street to your right. This is Violettenstraat. You will find B&B WestViolet at number 4.
Walking: Coming out of the train station go to the right where you will see an enormous bicycle parking ramp in front of the Ibis hotel. Just in front of the hotel is a small pedestrian/bicycle bridge. Go over the bridge and then turn right to go trough the tunnel, arriving at a small square where you will see a fish stall and a flower stall. Leave the square on Haarlemmerstraat, a nice shopping street. After a few blocks go left on the canal Korte Prinsengracht for one block and then right over the bridge and left towards the church. Leave the church square on Westerstraat. Take the first street on the left, which is Violettenstraat. We are at no.4, on your right. It is about a 15-minute walk.
